The Ngati Toa tribe And the Ngati Awa tribe were enjoying a feast when a

messenger said that a war party from the Waikato was coming their way.

The Waikato warriors had to retreat after

losing ten men.

They then sent messengers to get more warriors,

6 of the messengers got killed.

700 warriors then went to attack the Ngati Toa

and the Ngati Awa tribes.
