Slide Notes

Today we took part in a little exercise where everyone was asked to guide their partner towards them across a crowded room.

People yelled, clapped their hands - but only one person met their partner half way.

It seems to me that we get locked into the usual way of thinking. Unquestioningly we support the status quo, the way things are.

And yet... When we ask ourselves 'who do I lead'? Perhaps we should ask 'how do I lead?'

Imagine leadership, then think again. Let us be the foot washer, the people who lift lives, who help others to re-imagine the world. Let us be followers showing others how its done!

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Crowd

Today we took part in a little exercise where everyone was asked to guide their partner towards them across a crowded room.

People yelled, clapped their hands - but only one person met their partner half way.

It seems to me that we get locked into the usual way of thinking. Unquestioningly we support the status quo, the way things are.

And yet... When we ask ourselves 'who do I lead'? Perhaps we should ask 'how do I lead?'

Waist

When we consider the person of Jesus we discover a deeply disturbing take on leadership.

Deeply disruptive of the status quo, interrupting the way things are.

Taking up the lowest position of the house he wrapped a towel around his waist and washed the disciples feet. And asked them to do the same.

The rhythm of kindness that began in this simple act of services became a movement without muscle. These hands of kindness rattled an empire with every soul they lifted up.

Revolution

Today let us ask ourselves 'how do I lead?' What kind of revolution do you want to be a part of?

Today. Become a disturber of the peace. A disruptor of the status quo.

How will you disturb your peace?
