WHAT'S NEXT AFTER YOU RECEIVED JESUS?

When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17

It all begins with...

A NEW HEART

And I will give you a NEW HEART—I will give you NEW and RIGHT desires—and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you NEW HEARTS OF LOVE.

Ezekiel 36:26

WHY and
HOW important is the HEART?

because our HEART is the VESSEL where challenges, choices and changes happen

What the bible says:

Proverbs 4:23 "Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

David was famously described in the bible as "A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART"

David is not a "sinless" person, He committed mistakes in His life.

But why was He called the MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART?

What can we learn from Him that we can apply in our lives TODAY?

1. A GODLY CHARACTER

IMAGE VS. CHARACTER

1 SAMUEL 16:6-7
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, BUT THE LORD LOOKS AT THE HEART.”

LESSONS:

  • People often look at the IMAGE of a person.
  • GOD looks at the CHARACTER of our HEART.
  • IMAGE is temporary...
  • but a GODLY CHARACTER lasts
  • We have to always choose a GODLY character

2. A MAN OF FAITH

FEAR VS. FAITH  (1 Samuel 17)

DAVID vs. SAUL

  • The Challenge 1 Samuel 17:4-10
  • The Response 1 Samuel 17:11, 26
  • 1 Samuel 17: 32-34
  • The Preparation 1 Samuel 17:34-37

LESSONS:

We all have to face our own Goliath.

Yes, we may feel fear, doubts and anxiety. But we MUST remember that GOD's faithfulness in the PAST, is the basis for our faith in the PRESENT.

Look back on your past, see how every single situation in your life has GOD'S FINGERPRINT in it.

CONCLUSION:

Being a Christian does not mean we are already perfect and that we have a perfect life. But as we made the CHOICE to receive JESUS CHRIST in our life, we must also make the CHOICE to let GOD change our HEARTS.

We WILL encounter difficulties, trials and testings in our walk with GOD, those are meant to BUILD our CHARACTER and to STRENGTHEN our faith.

Ultimately, as we GROW in CHARACTER and in our FAITH... we will be able to see THAT ALL THESE THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR OUR GOOD!!!
