The Steps To The Green Belt Movement

  • The women at first in few small groups, gathered seeds from the trees in the forests
  • They planted the seeds in whatever they had at hand
  • The women watered the seedlings and gave them adequate sun
  • When the seedlings were about 1ft tall, they planted them on private property.

WHAT CHANGE WAS MAATHAI TRYING TO IMPLEMENT

  • She was trying to allow women to work more instead of just watching the house. While they are working they are helping to save the ecosystem.

HOW IS THE MOVEMENT DIFFERENT FROM THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR

  • Wangari Maathai’s movement differs from the Revolutionary War because she did not use guns and sword, instead she was planting trees and saving the ecosystem.

WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME/DID SHE ACHIEVE HER GOAL

  • The outcome was that she planted more than 30 million trees
  • She exceeded her goal
