• In Munich, Kandinsky travelled across Europe and participated in exhibitions, artist institutes(Ku, Oleg).
• 1911- he and other like-minded artist co-founded the Blue Rider(Ku, Oleg).
• started seeking his way toward abstract art
• Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc., one of founder, “shared an interest in abstracted forms and prismatic colors, which, they felt, had spiritual values that could counteract the corruption and materialism of their age. The flattened perspective and reductive forms of woodcut helped put the artists, especially Kandinsky, on the path toward abstraction in their painting,”(“Der Blaue Reiter”).
•He proposed the "Interior necessity", "which alone could inspire true art, was forcing him to leave behind the representational image," (Pioch, Nicolas).
• “The Blue Rider dissolved with the outbreak of World War I in August 1914. Kandinsky, a Russian citizen, was forced to return to his homeland, and Marc and another Blue Rider artist, August Macke, were killed in action”(“Der Blaue Reiter”).

• “His parents played the piano and the zither. Kandinsky himself learned the piano and cello at an early age. The influence of music in his paintings cannot be overstated, down to the names of his paintings Improvisations, Impressions, and Compositions” (Pioch, Nicolas).
• “Music is abstract by nature”("Wassily Kandinsky").
• “Color is the key. The eye is hammer. The soul is the piano with its many chords. The artist is the hand that, by touching or that key, sets the soul vibrating automatically.” –Wassily Kandinsky
• “Kandinsky used color in a highly theoretical way associating tone with timbre (the sound's character), hue with pitch, and saturation with the volume of sound. He even claimed that when he saw color he heard music”(Pioch, Nicolas).
