WATER POLLUTION

BY IRIS AND SALLY

WHAT IS WATER POLLUTION?

  • Water pollution is when pollutants( particles or chemicals) are discharged into water bodies without enough treatment.
  • Pollutants get into water mainly by human causes.
  • There are different types and causes of water pollution.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF WATER POLLUTION

  • Nutrients pollution-Some sewage contains high levels of N and P ( nutrients) ended up in water, they will let algae and weed grow, and makes the water undrinkable. They will also use up all the oxygen, so other plants in the water will die.
  • Chemical water pollution- chemicals that are used to control weeds, insects and pests are often poisonous to aquatic life, when industries and farms put them into the water, it's a chemical water pollution.
  • Oil spillage : Oil spillage will cause many fish in the sea to die and sea birds to lose their ability to fly.

TYPES

  • Surface water pollution: hazardous substances coming into water and dissolving physically with the water is called surface water pollution.
  • Microbiological -?
  • Suspended matter -?
  • Ground water pollution-?
  • Oxygen depleting-?
