WATER POLLUTION PROBLEMS

  • Dirty water is the biggest health risk
  • Runoffs pick up toxic chemicals, dirt, trash, and disease-carrying organisms
  • Runoffs then flow down into bodys of water like rivers, lakes, and oceans
  • These runoffs come from roofs, sewers, roads, and landfills
  • In developing countries, 70% of wastes are dumped in the water

HARMFUL WATER

  • Dirty water can endanger wildlife in the water
  • Dirty water can cause disease if it gets into the body
  • Millions die because they dont have clean water to drink
  • Countries like Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Taiwan have high levals of pollution

SOLVING WATER POLUTION

  • There are many efforts to stop water pollution
  • Filtration and treatment plants
  • Green roofs and rain gardens
  • These things filter water to make it clean again

CHALLENGES

  • In parts of the developing world there is less infrastructure
  • Threats are given to the species that live in the water
  • Still many people are not taking care of the water
  • People are continuing to pollute the water
