PRESENTATION OUTLINE
I chose to do safety of swimming on a beach as it is one of the most popular.
Swimming in the beach is a fun activity but it is also very dangerous. The main dangers are drowning and rips.
Every year 1,000s of Australians are saved by lifeguards in beaches...
...but what you don't know is of the hundreds that drown every year.
PERCENTAGE OF WATER INCIDENTS
So a whopping 54% of beach related water emergencies could be prevented.
Other water incidents are by people going in deep water knowing that they can swim; if you can't swim don't go in higher that your thighs.
Also people drown from getting caught in rips and not knowing how to get out; do not swim directly towards the shore, swim horizontally to it.
BEFORE GOING IN WATER YOU SHOULD KNOW THESE RULES:
- Never go in water higher that your chin.
- Only swim is designated swimming areas (red and yellow flags).
- And never jump in to save someone if you can't swim.
- Never swim at dark or alone.
