Water, is taught by thirst.
Land—by the Oceans passed
Transport—by throe—
Peace by the battles told—
Love by Memorial Mold—
Birds,by the snow

Imagery
An image of sadness and of how we,as humans, do not appreciate something until it is gone is given.

Mood
Is one of loss and happiness.
Expressed by the lines,
"Love by Memorial Mold" and "Peace—By battles told"
With both lines symbolizing the happiness of Love but then the bitter taste of losing that love.

Tone
The tone is one of hardship,loss,and underlying happiness.
"Birds by the snow"
"Water is taught by thirst"

Emily Dickinson expresses herself in the poem by how she has faced many troubling heartbreaks and loses in her life showing her that we take many things we are given for granted, until they are taken away from us forever.
