WATERSHED

A WATERSHED IS A PLACE WERE WATER IS COLLECTED IN ONE PLACE.

NON-POINT SOURCE VS. POINT SOURCE

Point source is easily identifiable, and non-point source is when there are a lot of sources to refer to.

URBAN RUNOFF

Urban runoff is wasted water, for example, irrigation, overwatering, and car washing

STORM WATER ANE DRAINS COMPARED TO SEWER

Water in storm drains is not treated and the dirty water enters our waterways.

HOW DOES FERTILIZER GET INTO OUR WATERWAYS?

WHEN IT RAINS, FERTILIZER WASHES DOWN THE STORM DRAINS, IT GOES DOWN THE OCEAN AND CREATES ALGAL BLOOMS

PROBLEMS OF OVERWATERING

WHEN YOU OVERWATER THE GRASS, YOU ARE USALLY NOT AWARE THAT THERE IS LITTER,OIL/FERTILIZER THAT WILL EVENTUALLY END UP IN THE OCEAN, WHERE IT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE.

LAWN CARE

  • Pick up all the leaves, branches and other lawn waste
  • Put your lawn waste in the appropriate trash can for lawn waste.

PESTICIDES IN OUR WATERS

PESTICIDES GET INTO OUR WHEN WE SPRAY IT ON BUGS, THEY WASH DOWN THE DRAINS AND POISEN THE OCEANS.
