PRESENTATION OUTLINE
TYPES OF WAVES
- Transverse waves move perpendicular to the direction the wave is traveling
- Longitudinal waves vibrate parallel to the direction of the wave motion
What is a wave ? A wave is a oscillation that travels from one place to another if you poke a floating ball it oscillates up and down the oscillation spreads outward from where it started
A transverse wave is a wave that in which the particles of the medium move perpendicular to the direction the wave is traveling light waves are an example of transverse waves the fluctuating electric and magnetic fields that make up a light wave are perpendicular to another .
Longitudinal waves is a wave in which the particles of the medium vibrate parallel to the direction of wave motion sound waves are an example of longitudinal wave that we encounter every day
Reflection , rarefaction, and diffraction
Reflection is bouncing of a ray of light and heat diffraction is a change in the a wave goes if a obstacle is in his way rarefaction is just a compression
How we calculate the velocity of a wave well the wave speed equation is wave speed = frequency x wave length
One interesting thing about waves is that there mechanical and electromagnetic and there two types of waves and I never knew that or any of this which I found pretty interesting ..
