  • India was one of the first blacks to integrate the university of Arkansas
  • India discovered that Melba would be one of the first blacks to attend central high.
  • India had to take Melba to a white hospital because she had a massive infection.
  • She went to Fair Park for a Fourth of July picnic.
  • She could be found scrubbing the linoleum floor or baking cornbread.
