MACHINE GUN

MACHINE GUNS

  • Machine guns needed 4-6 men to work them.
  • They had the fire-power of 100 guns.
  • Large field guns could deliver devastating blows to the
  • Enemy but needed up to 12 men to work them.
  • The most common tactical weapon in WW1.

Danish Madsen machine gun

  • considered as among of the lightest tactical weapons
  • with the maximum weight of only two kilos
  • referred to as the most powerful gun of its kind.

LEWIS GUN

  • Shoots up to 600 rounds per second
  • Weighed up to 12kg and a 47 cartridge circular magazine
  • Was effective up to 600 meters
  • Nicknamed "The Belgian Rattlesnake"
  • Approximately 50,000 by 19l 6

VICKERS GUN

  • Water cooled
  • Loaded with a 250 round belt
  • Mounted on a tripod
  • Used 0.303 inch bullets
  • Shot 450 Round per minute

Austro-Hungarian Schwartzlose M.07/12

  • One of the best WW1 weapons.
  • Built by Andreas Schwartzlose in the year 1902.
  • Weapon could be put on wheels for ease of transfer.

  • referred to as the pioneer genuine sub-machine gun.
  • first made in order to be used as flexible observer gun.
  • This is the main reason why this gun can fire with high rate.
  • However, the pistol of the gun was not that powerful in order
  • to meet with the standards expected by the user.

BROWNING(M1917)

  • Can have a rate of 450-600 rounds per minute
  • Airborne weapon for American planes for some time
  • Shoots 2,800 feet per second
  • 250 round. belt

  • German gun
  • Usually has 2 barrels
