The Climate of Murmansk

It is very difficult to guess the weather in Murmansk, the sun may shine in the morning, and by the evening it will be so cold that you can freeze in the clothes you left the house in the morning. Unpredictability is the weather motto of the Atlantic–Arctic temperate zone, where Murmansk is located.

Summer in Murmansk

Summer does not last long, and there are very few truly sunny and warm days at all, but the locals do not despair much about this, the Arctic after all, thanks to such a summer. In general, there are some funny sayings about summer that are popular in Murmansk:

Murmansk residents overwintered the winter – they will also overwinter the summer;
it was summer in Murmansk, but I was working that day.

Autumn in Murmansk

In autumn, you can see a lot of shades of colors, a riot of colors, nature is beautiful during this period. When it's dry in autumn, the weather is lovely, but heavy downpours can turn the city into a huge dirty puddle, which spoils an already bad mood, on the eve of a long winter.

Winter in Murmansk

Winters here are different both in temperature and in the amount of snow (from about -10 to -25, there are exceptions), but one thing is invariably the polar night. The sun does not appear in the sky at all throughout its entire length, which undoubtedly affects the locals, who walk like sleepy flies.

Spring in Murmansk

Spring in Murmansk is very slow, it usually snows on May holidays.
