Childhood and Family

  • Parents are James Blake and Catherine Wright Armitage Blake.
  • His father owned a hosiery shop
  • William had a average childhood in terms of schooling; his mother educated him, which was common in that time.
  • Despite this normality, Blake had visions, such as things like God's head appearing in a window.

  • William began to write as a child, his visions giving him great spiritual inspiration for his poetry.
  • He also wrote due to his frustrations he had towards the world
  • Also a huge motivation in his life was his mother, in which he wrote several poems of.

Why Study William Blake

  • You Should study Blake. I think this for one main reason, he thinks for himself, he has a exceptionally out of the ordinary outlook on life. You can never grow, learn, or see things from a different perspective following the conventional, unoriginal thoughts of the majority. Therefore, William Blake is a great choice for study.
