Jesus and his mother was invited to a wedding. At the wedding they ran out of wine. Jesus' mother had faith in Jesus' compassion and asked him to make more wine.

Therefore Jesus went into the back and turned water into wine to be served at the wedding.

Jesus turning wine into water represents the rich wisdom and revelation he brings from God.

In this miracle the water is a sign of baptismal waters and wine represents the Eucharist. These things purify us and bring us spiritual life.

After the miracle Jesus went to Jerusalem and told Nicodemus that no one can enter the Gods Kingdom "without being born of the water and the spirit."
(Jn 3:5)
This miracle ties to the fourth commandment which is "honor your mother and your father". Jesus obeys his mother by listening to what she has to say and following orders such as making water into wine
