• The first known use was for hunting and building
• E.x. Chisel, axe, knife
• Used to push something apart
• First appeared in the form of stone
• It is usually two inclined planes joined together

USES

• For cutting, splitting, tightening, hold back, hold together or for scraping

TYPES

• Single~ triangular tool often made of metal, wood, stone or plastic~ it is thick on one end and it tapers to a thin or sharp edge
• Double~ two single wedges put together back-to-back
