Founding
Delaware was founded by Peter Minuit in 1638.
Peter Minuit lived from 1580 -1638. He lived for 58 years.
The original name of the colony was the Delaware Colony
the reason for Founding was Trade and profits

Geography
the Delaware Colony was one of the middle colonies.
Delaware was named after the Delaware river.
It is Flat lowland along the Atlantic Coastal Plain. Mostly swampland with over 30,000 acres of swamp.
Fertile soil that was suited to farming

Economy
Delaware's was a trading post for plows, tools, and locks.
Delaware was known as a breadbasket colony since they grew lots of crops.
Delaware was known mostly for their wheat.
The wheat was made into flour and exported out to other colonies.

Religion
Quakers were people from Christian roots. It began in the 1650's in England.
Since there was no specific culture in Delaware at that time, there were Catholics, Quakers, Jews, and more.
Quakers had meeting together almost every year.

Climate
In Delaware there is the Atlantic coast of the United States.
It is mostly humid in Delaware.
In the winter there is very heavy snow.

Fun Facts
Flax and hemp farms were established in the in most middle colonies including Delaware.
Delaware was the first colony to be made into an official state.
December 7, 1787 was when Delaware became an official colonial state .
