Founding
Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in 1682 when King Charles granted him a huge amount of land in return for debt to his father.
Pennsylvania means: "Penn Woods" and was founded for religious freedom for Quakers.
The famous Liberty Bell, a symbol of the founding of freedom lives here.

Independence Hall: Where 1st and 2nd Continental Congresses met.
Declaration of Independence and US Constitution signed here!!!!

Religion
Pennsylvania had religious freedom, which meant that it welcomed all religions with open arms.
Pennsylvania hosted religions like Quakers Jews and Catholics.
At this time, You were not judged by your religion.

Economy
Pennsylvania was known as a breadbasket colony because it specialized in farming.
Pennsylvania's best crop was wheat. Their best wheat was made into flour and sold to England. They also kept some for themselves.
Thanks to their farming Pennsylvania was very wealthy .

Pennsylvania had a very unique geography.
It included coastal plain, plateau areas and mountains.
These areas could be used as useful food sources during the summer.

Pennsylvania had a mild climate with warm summers and mild winters.
The mild winters were well suited for farming and aggrculture

Fun Facts
William Penn is the icon for Quaker oats because he had Quaker religion! you can look on your cereal box.
Pennsylvania was 2nd colony to become a state on December 12 1787.
Famous Ben Franklin and George Washington did much for the Revolution here.
Pennsylvania served as the capitol of the nation.
