• Virginia was founded by John Smith and John Rolfe, backed by the London company at Jamestown.
• Virginia was founded in 1607
• Virginia was the first colony of the 13.

John Smith

• John Smith lived from January 1580 - June 1631.
• He was an English solder, an explorer and an author.
• He was knighted for his service to Sigismund Bathory.
• He also was Prince of Transylvania

John Rolfe

• He was responsible for bringing money to Virginia by making tobacco crops.
• Today there are still roads and highways in Virginia named after John Rolfe.
• After John Rolfe died in 1622, John Rolfe's wife got remarried to Roger Smith, who is John Smith's son.

Religion

• Virginia has free religion which gave religious freedom to Baptists and Anglican religions

Geography

• Virginia has a lot mountains, valleys and coastal plains.
• Virginia is a vary pretty and beautiful place.

Economy

• Virginia made money by selling tobacco, wheat and corn.
