HANCOCK

  • As of the 2010 the population was 30,676.
  • The farthest north of all the counties.
  • Was formed from Brooke County.
  • Was formed in 1848
  • Has access to the Ohio River

BROOKE

  • As of 2010 the population was 24,069
  • Was created from Ohio County in 1797
  • Brooke County is a part of the First Judicial Circuit of WV
  • The other two are Ohio and Hancock

  • As of 2010 the population was 44,443
  • It was formed from the District of West Augusta, Virginia in 1776
  • It was named for the Ohio River on its western boundary
  • The county seat is in Wheeling
  • Is a part of the First Judicial Circuit

MARSHALL

  • As of 2010 the population was 33,107
  • Its southern border is the Mason-Dixon line
  • Its home to the largest conical burial mound in North America
  • Marshall County was formed form Ohio County in 1835
  • In 1852, the B&O railroad was complete at Rosby's Rock

WETZEL

  • Wetzel county was firmed from Tyler county
  • As of 2010 the population was 16,583
  • Median income for a house hold in the county was 30,935

  • The county was founded in 1814
  • The founder John Tyler Sr. Son was president John Tyler
