MINING

  • A lot of people wanted to move west for mining
  • They thought there was a lot of silver and gold
  • So they moved west.
  • Once they got there they found out there wasn't a lot of gold or silver
  • Only a few people go rich off of the mining in the west.

FARMING

  • A lot of farmers picked up and moved west
  • They did this because out west is a lot of land
  • The land out west has very fertile soil
  • Fertile soil means better crops

RANCHING

  • Some ranchers decided to move out west
  • Once they took a trail to move out west
  • And on the trail some of the peoples cattle
  • Got stolen

WHY WERE NATIVE AMERICAN TRADITIONS CHANGED?

  • The Dawes act was a huge stampede
  • Were they let a bunch of people go on a huge piece
  • Of land and choose we're they wanted there land
  • But, this land was what the native Americans were using
  • So once everyone barged onto that land they had to move

  • This changed there traditions because they had to move
  • To a new location. That they weren't used to
  • So they had to change there everyday life style
  • On where they grew there crops and built there forts
