Wetland destruction impacts animals. This means that the more we pollute, cause fires, and build homes on the land the more animals we hurt.

SOME BASIC WETLAND FACTS

  • Wetlands are marshes, ponds, and swamps.
  • Of the North American wetlands the U.S. has 46%, Canada 51%, and Mexico 3%.
  • According to WWF.org the Amazon River is the biggest wetland.
  • Wetlands are home to a variety of animals.

Polluting wetlands is bad because it poisons the water with pathogenic organisms. When the animals are thirsty they drink the poisons and the animals become sick according to WWF. But if we remember the three R's, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, we can help the
animals!

HOW CAN YOU HELP THE WETLANDS?

  • You can plant trees.
  • You could organize a clean-up at a local wetland.
  • You can avoid using fertilizer.
  • You can donate to an organization.
  • You can purchase a specialty duck stamp.
