YOUR BODY

  • Your body will normally run a temperature of 98.6
  • When your body runs a fever it's a natural response to infection or illness.
  • A fever indicates that your immune system is working.

HYPOTHALMUS

  • In charge of regulating body temperature
  • Pyrogens bind to certain receptors in the hypothalamus
  • When the pyrogens bind it causes the body temperature to rise.

WHAT HIGH FEVER DOES TO THE BODY

  • Causes the hypothalamus to reset the body temp to a higher temp.
  • If the weather is hot outside it could cause a heat stroke.
  • Febrile seizures if the temperature gets to high.
  • If the fever is to high it could permanently damage the brain.

WHAT FLU DOES TO THE BODY

  • Chills
  • Moderate high fever (101 to 103 Fahrenheit)
  • Sore throat. Headaches. Fatigue
  • Runny nose. Cough. Diarrhea
  • Muscle aches. Dizziness

  • Let them run their course
  • Stay hydrated
  • Take Aspirin
