ABORIGINAL LIFE BEFORE THE EUROPEANS CAME
What were the main animals they hunted?
Aboriginal people hunted animals like kangaroo,birds,ants,grubs,eels,beetles,cassowary and much more. They regularly burned areas of bush. This forced animals into the open were they could be hunted with spears and boomerangs.Emus were also hunted.
How were the tools made?
Hunting spears were used by the Aboriginal people. They were usually made from grinding stone.
What were some of the main clothes they wore?
Sometimes men and boys wore body paint in preparation for a corroboree. They wore animal skin parrot feathers and shell paint.
What were the name's of Victoria's tribes and why were they special?
Some of the tribes that were in this area are called Bun wurrung. Some of the other tribes are Gurai ( Kurnai ) .The biggest tribe in Victoria is Wergaia. The smallest in Victoria is Dadi Dadi.
What were some of the roles of men and women?
Aboriginal people were hunter gatherers. Both men and women played important roles within the tribe. Women were responsible for hunting and gathering food such as:reptiles,shellfish,small marsupials,insects,honey,eggs and edible plants. Women worked in small groups.
