FACTS ABOUT PYRAMIDS
The bricks they used were usually limestone. Each brick weighed about two and a half adult elephants. Also most pyramids had secret entrances, so that unwanted visitors don't get inside. Some tombs had mazes or corridors going to the wrong places, so it would be hard to find the burial chambers. The top of the pyramid was called the cap stone it was not a bunch of blocks. More important pharoahs had their tombs hidden for example king tut.

HOW THE PYRAMIDS WERE BUILT
The top of the pyramid was not connected to the rest of the pyramid. The outer edges of each layer, were made of special casting block of the best quality limestone. As they built the pyramids inside, they made lots of small passage ways that lead to a lot of places.

It was an honor to build the pyramids so highly trained craftsmen cut the stones and laid them.
Their plan at first was to make the burial chambers underground. It took to long to do it.
Because pulling the blocks was a long tiring job, some of the people that pulled the blocks were convicts or slaves.

HOW THE BLOCKS WERE TRANSPORTED
Each block was levered onto a sledge which was dragged up logs.
Water or mud was poured onto the path for less friction. They used platforms to go around the pyramid so they could build on different angles.

Wedges were soaked with water which made the wood expand to split the stone. Lots of people died trying to build the pyramids.

TOMBS AND HOW THEY WERE STRUCTURED
The burial chambers were usually made of gold or had a lot of gold in it. There was usually dead ends and secret doors so tomb raiders would stay out. More important pharaohs had their tombs hidden in the pyramid.

Some pharaohs were put in their burial chambers while it was getting built. They tried putting burial chambers under ground, but it took to long to make the rooms.
