WHAT IS PROTEIN SYNTHESIS?

(SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS IN THE CELL)

IT ALL STARTS IN THE CELL

  • Tons of DNA is wrapped up in the nucleus of a the cell.

A section of DNA called a gene is pulled out from a strand.

A protein then runs like a zipper along the gene unzipping it to make a copy. The other nucleotides a floating around in the cell then go to the protein replacing the other half of the DNA so that there is a copy. This copy is called mRNA.

The new copy of the gene then goes out of the nucleus and into a ribosome.

Strands with amino acids at the end go into the ribosome and the two amino acids connect. More and more come until finally...
