HABITAT & DIET

  • They are herbivores
  • They usually eat leaves and other kinds of plants
  • They live in wooded areas so they can hide from preditors

REPRODUCTION

  • An adult doe usually has twins in the spring
  • In areas where there is sufficient food, shelter and water
  • deer tend to have high reproductive potential and populations can increase
  • In these conditions, a deer can live up to eight - twelve years

OFFSPRING INFO

  • normally born sometime between late April and early July
  • The spots enable the fawn to camouflage itself
  • When a fawn is born it is odorless so that predators are not attracted to it
  • the area where the fawn is born normally becomes its adult habitat.
  • male fawn weighs 80-85 pounds the female fawn weighs 75-80 pounds
