PRESENTATION OUTLINE
-My animal-
I am doing the whitetail deer.
It's scientific name is Odocoileus virginianus. My name is Abby Lesch I'm in 5th hour and the date is 3-15-16.
-Habitat-
Whitetail deer live in crop fields, woods, etc. They need food, water, and air to survive.
-Niche-
(Photo part of page 2)
When deer overgraze those species, they leave ecological niches open for other species of vegetation. Often the species that take over are detrimental kinds of vegetation, including invasive exotic plant species (plants that aren't native to an ecosystem and tend to disrupt ecosystems they enter
-Population-
Deer are in small groups during the warm seasons like spring and summer because that is when the mothers have there babies so it is just a group of the mother and her babies. When they are in large groups it would be in like the winter and fall because that is there mating season. Limiting factors are food, water, and shelter and when they are in search for that stuff there are a lot of competition with the males.
-Energy-
A white tailed deer is a herbivore because they only eat plants. The primary diet of a whitetail deer is leaves, new shoots twigs, nuts, berries, shrubs and wild flowering herbs. These non woody plants are very important to a deer’s diet especially in the fall they also like to eat lots of crops in the field. The white tail deer is a secondary consumer because it has the first consumers that will eat the deer like wolves and coyotes and bears and etc.
-Biological Interactions-
White tail deer s a prey of a bear which is a predator. The male deer will fight over the female deer.Mutalism in which both organisms are involved.
-Adaptions-
These dainty, yet athletic deer, have developed a range of adaptations to help them cope with seasonal changes, to evade predators and survive throughout the different stages of their lives. Because for every season deer know where to go and hide and they know where to get food and where to live without getting attacked or killed.
