Who's playing Wordle?

Published on Feb 25, 2022

I first learned about Wordle on Facebook when I started seeing all these strange-patterned images show up on my feed. You would think that, with me being a word person, I'm inherently good at games like this, but the truth is...I'm not. I am routinely trounced in Scrabble. I may have an absolute lexicon of words floating around in this head of mine, but ask me to scramble limited letters around to make one and I come up dry, apparently!

If you're unfamiliar with the game, it's a daily word puzzle - much like a daily crossword - that switches out every day at midnight. You have six guesses to discover the 5-letter word answer. It's a fun little brain tease, and people really enjoy comparing scores and talking about the daily puzzles.

I read this morning that the New York Times recently bought Wordle and that has many people concerned that the game might eventually go free to play. This article on Gizmodo talks about how Wordle devotees discovered they could download the HTML file and play offline...which eventually led to people discovering how to put the game on the Game Boy and Analogue Pocket.

Have you been playing Wordle? Tell me how you like it!
