• she didn't leave her house often, let alone her room
• her sexual feelings were questioned

• sister-in-law might have been a love interest

• wrote at least 2,000 poems total

How her life relates to her poem

• "Why do I love" You, Sir? was about a love interest.
• In her poem she talks about not asking questions, 
•  while in life she didn't speak much so it truly shows
• her character.

In my analysis of the poem I said that she trusted this man, but in her life she didn't seem to trust many people.

Thomas Wentworth Higginson, one of Emily's love interest, stated, "Emily was very shy but if she trusted you she was very fascinating."

• The poem expresses how Emily opened
• up to a man and trusted him. This shows 
• her true character.
