WHY DO TEENS USE DRUGS?

Peer Pressure

• MANY TEENS FEEL FORCED TO DO DRUGS TO FIT IN WITH THEIR FRIENDS and be "cool".
• However, friends and popularity in school are both temporary, and addictions can be lifelong. Saying no to drugs might make you feel embarrassed. in the moment, but truthfully, you are doing yourself a favor.

A desire to escape

• A lot of teenagers feel unhappy with their life, and feel that taking drugs can make their lives easier.
• However, Although drugs might make life easier temporarily, the long lasting conditions of drug use negatively impacts many lives.

REbellion

• Many teens feel frustrated with their parents, and think that by doing drugs they are defying them.
• Even if you feel angry with your parents, doing drugs is not the way to communicate that anger. In the end, it will only harm both you and them.

Lack of confidence And/or anxiety

• When teenagers hear of the effects of drugs and their ability to alleviate anxiety and grant self-confidence they often beleive these drugs could be beneficial.
