WHY tHE COLONISTS WANTED FREEDOM

BY Michael Maxwell

HEre are some main reSONS

  • Taxes set on the colonists after the F & I War
  • no representation for the colonies in the British Parliament
  • and Tariffs placed on certain imported goods

Taxes After french and Indian war

After the English defeated the french they were in major debt for the weapons they needed. so what they decided to do was raise the taxes on the colonists.

No representation in british parliament

the colonists were furious that they were being taxed without being informed or being represented in the parliament and did not even have a say in the matter.

Tariffs on certain goods

Tariffs on items such as tea angered many colonists. for example the British placed high tariffs on tea and only allowed the colonists to buy tea from the British and no where else. this one the cause of the Boston tea party.

If the British hadn't done these things then maybe we would still be part of Britain.
