PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WIC stands for Women Infants Children and is run by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Service (FNS)

This organization benefits low-income women who are pregnant or post-partum, infants, and children up to age 5

This organization assists individuals by providing nutrition screening and education, specific supplemental foods, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and social services.

To qualify for this service, you must be a low income woman who is pregnant, has had a baby or been pregnant within the last 6 months, is currently breastfeeding a baby that is less than 12 months old, or is a baby, child or foster child under the age of 5

They are located in numerous places, including Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Michigan, and many Native American tribes throughout the U.S.

Numerous studies show that WIC is effective and helps reduce premature births, low and very low birth-weight babies, fetal and infant deaths, the incidence of low-iron anemia, and increase the access to prenatal care earlier in pregnancy

WIC deserves the donation because it helps over 8 million low income mothers and children each year by making sure they have the best healthcare and nutrition possible.
