His writings are significant in relation to the time period because he gives a secular view of the colony in his work, "Of Plymouth Plantations."

He wrote his manuscript "Of Plymouth Plantations" from 1620-1647 in the Plymouth colony in Massachusetts

William is an important author because he gives a unique view on colonial America.

His writings are significant for the time period because they express secular views at a time where most writing was associated with the church and how life relates to God

William was a pioneer in secular literature, and inspired many other writers. He paints a picture of colonial America we cannot get from any other writer, and gives a unique insight into the lives of colonists.
