PRESENTATION OUTLINE

MOVEMENT OF AIR

  • Sun: is a source of energy that causes air movement
  • Convection cells in earths atmosphere: cause high and low pressure belts
  • Coriolis effect: if the world didn't move wind would flight straight but because it does the wind curve that is the corilis effect

GLOBAL WINDS

  • Two factors that produce global winds: pressure belts and coriolis effect
  • Three major global wind systems: easterlies, westerlies and trade winds
  • Jet streams: are bands of high speed winds in the upper troposphere

Local winds

  • Sea breeze is when the breeze from goes to the land.
  • Land breeze is breeze from land that goes to sea
  • Valley breeze is when the breeze goes to mountain
  • Mountain breeze is when it goes into the valley.
