  • Born 1874
  • Dad died at the age of 8
  • He was a very poor student at school

YOUNG SOLDIER

  • Went to military school in 1893
  • Traveled as soldier and journalist
  • Was captured in South Africa but escaped

JOURNALISM

  • His first book published in 1898
  • He traveled around writing books
  • He had 5 books published by 26

WORLD WAR I

  • Winston fought in WWI
  • 1911 Winston became the First Lord of admirality
  • He established the Royal Navy
  • He invented one of the earliest tanks

WWII

  • France fell in 1940
  • In July Germany bombed Britain
  • He persuaded President Roosevelt for military support
  • Planned D-Day with Roosevelt

PRIME MINISTER

  • He was first elected in 1940
  • Then lost second but got relected in 1951
