Only 13% of women were in the workforce. The were expected to stay home, cook, clean the house, and produce children. They also didn't drive the cars that were around.
Flappers were a new breed of young Western women in the 1920s who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, and participated in acts that were deemed "inappropriate" for women, such as having casual sex and driving.
Flappers originated from many things, such as the amount of suitors who were lost in war, automobiles to drive to speakeasies, and the idea that life is too short.
