WOMEN RIGHTS

  • Very few
  • Couldn't choose who to marry
  • Less education than boys
  • If wasn't married it is frowned upon

FORCED LABOR

  • Prostitution was common
  • Men can force them to have sex
  • Force to depend on men for money

WORK

  • Worked in factories
  • Worked on farms
  • Mostly unemployed
  • Were maids, nurse, laundress, teacher

CULTURE OBLIGATIONS

  • Really tight clothes
  • Symbolic of how constricted their life's were
  • They wore dress

THE COMMON WOMAN

  • It was appropriate for women to do domestic work and raise kids
  • Independent women were socially unapproved of
  • They would have to act extremely feminine
