WONDROUS CLOUDS

CUMULUS CLOUDS

  • Cumulus clouds are puffy clouds that look like floating cotton.
  • Cumulus clouds are 1,000 meters above ground.
  • Cumulus clouds have a flat base.

STRATUS CLOUDS

  • Stratus clouds grayish clouds that cover the entire sky.
  • They resemble fog that does not reach the ground.
  • Stratus clouds are just below 6,000 feet.

CIRRUS CLOUDS

  • Cirrus clouds are thin wispy clouds blown by high winds.
  • Cirrus clouds are formed above 6,000m (20,000ft.)
  • They generally mean fair to pleasant weather.

FOG

  • Fog is a collection of water droplets and ice crystals.
  • Fog is at or very close to the surface and reduces visibility for three miles or less.
  • You need WARM AIR southerly winds bring warm moist air.

NIMBUS CLOUDS

  • A nimbus cloud is a formless cloud layer that is dark grey.
  • A nimbus cloud is usually 10,000 ft 3,000m above ground.
  • Nimbus clouds form on a warm front where the slowly rising warm air.
