CLAY SETUP

PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW WHEN WORKING WITH CLAY

SAFETY

  • Dry dusty clay powder is dangerous. Breathing in the dust badly affects the lungs.
  • Use wet cloths to wipe down tables TWICE. Wipe off once to remove the clay and then a second time to remove the dust.
  • NEVER throw clay or clay tools. Clay grit caught in eyes can cut into the eye.

CLEANUP TIME

5-15 MINUTES AT THE END OF THE LESSON IS DESIGNATED TO CLEANING TIME

Before cleaning jobs begin EVERYONE must bag their work, tidy their area of dry clay and return clay tools.

CLEANING RULES

  • Each table is responsible for their area.
  • Failure to complete the job properly will result in the whole table staying back to do extra cleaning jobs during lunch.
  • The room should be CLEANER than how we found it at the start of the lesson.
