WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION (WPA)

DATE OF ESTABLISHMENT

PURPOSE OF WPA

• To provide jobs for the people who were able to work
• To replace earlier attempts to bring the depression under control

PEOPLE WHO WERE AFFECTED

• WPA benefited the unemployed
• This was a benefit because unemployed people could finally have an income

WAS IT A SUCCESS?

• The WPA was a a success
• One accomplishment was that they constructed roads, bridges, and buildings
• Another accomplishment was that they gave a huge percent of the unemployed population jobs

IS THE WPA STILL AROUND TODAY?

• The WPA is still around today
• Todays duties is mostly art and infrastructure projects
• The WPA also made a lot of airports
