America Goes to WAR!!!
War has erupted in Europe, and Japan with Germany and Japan invading neighboring countries.

US is staying clear of another war in Europe.

US currently in the midst of Great Depression and had no means to get involved

Pearl Harbor, HI
December 7, 1941

Japan signs an alliance with Germany and Italy forming the Axis Powers

US places an embargo on Japan for war materials.

Japan give US a peace medal for not getting involved in war.

Japan leads a surprise attack on US holdings in Pearl Harbor, HI killing nearly 2,400 men and women

US Declares War

US declares war on Germany and Japan

Men signed up by the hundreds of thousands to join military

Others including women went to working in factories

The factories that were lying asleep due to the depression woke up!

THE SLEEPING GIANT WAS WOKEN!!!

Selective Service

Men signed up for military service in droves

The first peacetime draft was activated

Women joined the Army Corp of nurses

Northern AfricA

US sees its first action in Northern Africa to avoid going in through the English channel for fear of heavy UBoat presence

US defeated Afrika Corp and opened up Mediterranean Sea for a supply line to Italy

Italy Invasion

US hits Italy from Northern Africa

US has full control of Italy in 2 months

Mussolini was captured and taken out of pawer

Allies decided its time to take back France
