On July,9,1958 there was an earthquake along the fairweather fault in Alaska

The earthquake loosened about 40 million yards of rock.

The rock fell right into the lituya bay the rock fell from 3000 ft.

The impact caused a tsunami to hit the southwest shoreline

The force of the wave removed all trees and vegetation.

Five people from a fishing boat died as a result of having been caught by a wave.

There many others injured in the wave.In the bay the wave was 50 to 75 feet high..

The tsunami hit six bays and destroyed lots of trees and boats along with other property .

It's interesting to note that historic documents suggest that mega tsunamis are quite common in the Lituya Bay.
