TRENCHES

• Trenches were used to protect soldiers from poisonous gas and the enemy and they were used also for soldiers to get rest and eat in more safety.
• However, you could get many diseases in the trenches such as cholera or trenchfoot.

WEAPONS

• They used various weapons in WW1 such as machine guns, gas bombs, exploding mines and artillery (explosive tanks)

EQUIPMENT

• Soldiers usually carried some form of weapon for protection, a rucksack or assault pack for basic needs (water etc) , and a helmet for protection
