WW1 Food

Food sent from home.
Families sent parcels of food to their relatives that were in WW1. The parcels contained chocolate, cake, tobacco and tinned food such as meat.

Later on in the war soldiers did not get many vegs or meat as they were not near to animals. Also when the meat was sent it was packed full of fat.

Packaging
Most of the food was packaged in sealed off bag or put into a tin/can.
Once you open the bag, can or tin the food will go off or get old.

The soldiers got the food sent from home because the other food the had, was running out. But they wanted the food to last longer, so they stored the food in sealed plastic bags and tins to keep it fresh.

Thank you
