Nationalism: loyalty and devotion to a nation; especially : a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others
The Role of Nationalism:
Nationalism caused tension between countries as they began to distrust each other.
Militarism: predominance of the military class or its ideals
The Role of Militarism:
Militarism caused countries to have stronger military forces and more support for their military forces. This resulted in more death and more fighting.
Imperialism: a policy or practice by which a country increases its power by gaining control over other areas of the world
The Role Of Imperialism:
Imperialism caused countries to ally with one another and become stronger by attempting to overpower other countries.
Alliance: a union between people, groups, countries, etc.
The Role of Alliances:
Alliances caused forces to be stronger and more intimidating. If every country fought by itself, the war would have been much harder to fight.
ISIS hacked the U.S. twitter feed, telling the U.S. military to "watch their backs". This is an example of nationalism and militarism.
