  • It was the first major offensive against the Japanese empire

  • It was fought in the island of Guadalcanal
  • It was the first major offensive against Japan from the US

How
The allies landed forces on the island of Guadalcanal, and took the island. Surprised by the allied offensive, the Japanese made several attempts to retake the island, however they ultimately failed
