PRESENTATION OUTLINE
In 2014 we studied the film industry and fans of badass female entertainment
...and discovered some eye-opening facts:
Movies with strong female characters made $1.56 BILLION more than movies without strong ladies.
Movies with female protagonists make 20% more on average than movies starring males.
'The Hunger Games', 'Gone Girl', 'Orange is the New Black', 'The Heat', 'Scandal', 'Pretty Little Liars', 'Pitch Perfect', 'Gravity', 'Orphan Black' and 'Game of Thrones' all have badass ladies AND a combined 65 million Facebook followers.
But still, just 15% of lead characters in Hollywood movies are female.
We crave this entertainment and aren't getting enough of it...
So we built X-Factor Filmmakers.
We're a Hollywood 2.0 studio allowing creators and fans to interact, consume and share original and curated badass female entertainment.
This past year as a startup company we:
Were accepted into
one of Boston's top incubators (the Venture Development Center) which takes on 5 teams a year and has a fundraising success rate of 93%.
Gained 4 interns, 2 of which became official
X-Factor Filmmakers bloggers.
...and used the word "BADASS " in 139 of them.
...our top Tumblrer was our high school intern (nickname: 'High School')
Our email newsletter reached 584 subscribers.
We curated 50 badass staff-picked movies and
TV shows.
We brought on a 3rd
