LES FERRERES AQUEDUCT (Devil's Bridge)
- Built during the era of Augustus.
- Built to supply water to the city of Tarraco.
- Originally 25kms in lenght, now 217m and 27m high.
The Pantheon
- Built in 125 CE.
- Best preserved building in Rome.
- It was a temple where the emperor made public apperance.
The most memorable and important monument for me is the Les ferreres Aqueduct because, this building was useful to people and it also had an interesting legend of why it was built.
The Pantheon was build because the emperor wanted to show his power and his wealth.
Les Ferreres Aqueduct was build to serve a need for the city of Tarraco.
HAGIA SOPHIA
- Located in Constantinople, the capital of the Byantine Empire
- it was the center of the Orthodox church.
- it was burned down in 532 and rebuilt between 532 and 537 with the supervision of Justinian I
- it was a church, later became a mosque and today it is a museum.
The Basilica of San Marco
- started in 1063
- was built next to doge's palace, ordered by the doge in 838
- serving as the heart of the city's spirituality.
- know for the opulet designs and gilded interior mosaics, it was also know as "Church of Gold"
The most importan monument is the Hagia Sophia because it was an eastern orthodox church, later became a mosque, and now it is a museum.
The Purpose for Hagia Sophia and the Basilica of San Marco was for spiritual purpose also to show how wealthy and powerful they were.
